The best couples for online therapy are those who are familiar, at a basic level, with technology and have internet or cellular connection at their therapy session location. We are also able to troubleshoot any technological issues before and during sessions.

What is your therapists’ level of training?
Our therapists are licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) in their respective states. LMFTs receive more training in couple therapy than other credentialed therapists. Our therapists hold either a master’s or doctorate in MFT, and are couple therapy experts.
As a training center, on occasion, we may offer services through master’s level graduate students, or post-graduate residents who are working toward their license. You may choose to work with a trainee therapist, and these sessions are offered at a sliding scale rate.

Do you accept insurance?
We understand that insurance plans help to offset the cost of therapy. Using insurance for therapy also often limits the quality, duration, and focus of therapy.
For couple therapy to be covered by insurance, the following conditions must exist: a) one partner must be diagnosed with a mental health condition, and b) sessions must focus on the diagnosed condition. This limits how our couple therapists can work with you and your partner in therapy.
For these reasons, CityCouples™ does not participate in insurance plans. However, if these conditions are a factor in your therapy, and you have out-of-network benefits, we may be able to provide you with the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance plan for reimbursement consideration.
For more information on insurance reimbursement, please see our Insurance 101 page.
What Is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.
At your request, we will gladly provide you with a “Good Faith Estimate” to help you estimate the expected charges you may be billed for receiving couple therapy. Please contact us to request this form.
